Welcome!
Welcome to the Free & Clear Community Resource Center, a place to learn about helping people quit tobacco. This website is being offered as part of a research study to learn about how people use the Free & Clear website and to improve it for future visitors. We invite you to be a part of this study by browsing our Information Center, becoming a trained helper through the Training Center, and by reading the latest news stories about tobacco use and quitting.
What is the Free & Clear Website?
The Free & Clear Community Resource Center was created as part of Project Reach, a University of Arizona research study funded by the National Cancer Institute. Based on participants’ feedback in Project Reach, we made some important changes to the site and gave the Free & Clear Community Resource Center its new name.
How and why do I register?
To participate in the Free & Clear Community Resource Center, you must be 18 years of age or older. To enter the site, you first need to complete a brief registration form. The required fields will allow us to email you a password for your first login. The remaining items on the form will help us improve the site. We appreciate your willingness to share; however, you have the option to not answer by clicking “decline to answer.” Once you register, you can view all of the topics in the Information Center as well as the current news stories.
How do I take the Free & Clear Training?
Once you have logged in, you have the option to become a trained Helper. Just go to the Training Center and fill out the online pre-training survey, which takes about ten minutes; follow the instructions and complete the course, which takes about two hours; and then fill out the post-training survey, which takes about ten minutes. These surveys are part of the research to help us find out what people are learning in the Free & Clear training.
Is my information confidential?
All of the information you provide on the Free & Clear Web site will be confidential. Only the Principal Investigator of the study and her research team will have access to individual data. No identifying information will appear in any reports that come from this research.
